Landmark Resort Green Initiatives
Landmark Resort is committed to applying green practices through its facilities, guest rooms and beyond and is proud to be a Green Partner with TripAdvisor.
Below is a list of green practices currently in place at Landmark Resort:
Recycling is practiced for the following products:
- Cardboard
- Printer cartridges
- Metal
- Cooking oil for biodiesel
Majority use of the following ENERGY STAR qualified products:
- Guest room TV’s and TV equipment
- Guest room refrigerators
- Air conditioners in guest rooms
- Many windows
- Pool and hot tub heaters
Majority of the following paper products contain recycled material:
- Toilet paper
- Facial tissue
- Office paper
- Paper towels
- Majority of toiletries are locally produced and contain at least 50% recycled packaging
- Reusable food service items are used for on-site dining; majority of take-out items are provided with recyclable food service items
On-site green equipment and additional products include:
- Energy efficient boilers/furnaces
- Installed 5 pump pro variable speed domestic booster pumps resulting in extensive savings on utilities and qualifying for the Santee Cooper Trade Allies program
- Majority of lighting in the front of the house, back of the house and building exterior make use of automatic lighting controls
- Majority of guestroom bathroom fixtures meet flow and flush standards
- Majority of facility cleaning, laundry and/or dishwashing products are Environmental Choice EcoLodge certified
- South facing overhangs and tree shading as well as window films/tinting are used to reduce energy use
- Use of cool roofing
- Use of low VOC paints, primers, adhesives and sealants
- Minimum of 75% of interior light bulbs are energy efficient
On-site green practices include:
- Towel and linen reuse program
- Staff training on green practices
- Indoor cooling set-point is at 72 degrees or higher and the indoor heating set-point is 72 degrees or lower
- Preventive maintenance plan that checks building energy and water equipment
- Tracking of water usage on a regular basis
- Outdoor irrigation is in place with minimized use of herbicides, pesticides and chemicals used in landscaping making use of a majority of native plants
- Integrated pest management plan for non-toxic pest control with less reliance on chemical treatment is in place
